I knit these socks with a speicalty heel adapted from a pattern by Cat Bordhi known as the Sweet Tomato Heel.
A typical short row heel is made with two triangle wedges like this:
The Sweet Tomato Heel is made up of three wedges, and the tips of the wedges extend through to the opposite side of the sock rather than ending in the center of the sock. The result is a fuller fitting heel along with some extra room on the top of the instep.
These may be the fit you are looking for if you have a high instep or a fuller form ankle. The rest of the sock is knit with my regular size and shape foot, leg and toe.
